Welcome to Alamosa County!
Our thriving community is home to over 15,000 residents. Alamosa is the commercial hub of the San Luis Valley and the gateway to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve.
Equipped with prime agricultural land, innovative businesses in energy, industry, cultural heritage, and transportation, Alamosa County residents and visitors also enjoy access to some of Colorado's best wilderness and outdoor recreation. Our climate is perfect for the agricultural production of barley, potatoes, alfalfa, and with 350+ days of sunshine a year, we are one of the most productive locations for solar power plants in the U.S.
COVID-19 Updates
Alamosa County Public Health is now scheduling appointments for COVID-19 vaccines by calling our office at (719) 589-6639. Please leave a message if you don't reach someone, and we will call you back.
Current clinics are on Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. by appointment only. We can schedule anyone "above the line" in Phase 1, which includes Alamosa County residents age 70 and older as well as high- and moderate- risk healthcare workers and responders.
The current public health order for Alamosa County is Governor Polis' Safer-at-Home order. The county is open to the public with regular hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All county employees are required to wear masks and we ask that the public do so as well. Strict social distancing is required and signs and floor markings are displayed throughout our buildings to help maintain a minimum six foot separation. We thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.
