Legal
The county attorney is appointed by the board of commissioners to provide legal services to all elected county officials, departments, boards and commissions. The Attorney's Office represents the board in all legal matters including the preparation of contracts and the prosecution and defense of lawsuits by and against the county.
State law mandates the County Attorney's Office to represent the People of the State of Colorado in certain social services/human services and mental health proceedings.
By law, our office is not allowed to give legal advice or assistance to the general public.
