Through a joint effort of the Alamosa County Road & Bridge Department and the Colorado Pacific Railroad, four railroad crossings will be repaired and upgraded this fall beginning the week of September 9. The railroad crossings at South Hwy 285 and 17th Street, South Hwy 285 and 21st Street, South Hwy 285 and County Road 9, and West Hwy 160 and County Road 106 will undergo much needed upgrades. The crossings will be replaced with concrete panels that will make for a much smoother crossing, will require less maintenance, and will last much longer.  The Alamosa County Road & Bridge Department will assist in traffic control, any material removal, and concrete installation on the crossing approaches. Colorado Pacific Railroad will be responsible for the installation of the concrete panels and any track repair or replacement. Each crossing will require a road closure for approximately 7-8 days. The construction schedule is as follows, but subject to change.  21st Street will be closed the week of September 16; County Road 9 South will be closed the week of September 23 and County Rd 106 will be closed the week of September 30th. Please plan for alternate routes around these intersections. For questions please call Alamosa County Road & Bridge Department at 719-589 -6262.
